Manali – Leh Road Status (2026): CLOSED Srinagar – Leh Road Status (2026): CLOSED Darcha-Padum (Zanskar) Road Status (2026): CLOSED 23 January 2026: All roads between Himachal and Ladakh, Kashmir and Ladakh are closed following very heavy snowfall. 20 November 2025: The Manali-Leh highway is closed for all types of vehicles from today onwards. The road will now reopen in May next year (2026). The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) advised police not to allow traffic on this route beyond Zingzingbar towards Baralacha pass and Sarchu due to slippery road conditions following icing, recent snowfall, and extreme cold conditions. Travellers are advised not to put lives in danger. Those who wish to visit Ladakh by road can travel by Srinagar-Leh highway which is expected to remain open for a few more days. Otherwise, Ladakh remains connected by flight round the year. 07 November 2025: Driving on the Manali-Leh highway has become extremely dangerous due to deposit of the ice/frost on road surface at many places, especially near the high mountain passes and shady areas. Also, its snowing frequently on higher areas where vehicles (with occupants) can be left stranded without help. Police have advised travellers not to take risk and keep eye on weather conditions, and follow local guidelines. Please not that seasonal shops, police posts, and BRO establishments remain present at multiple places along the Leh-Manali highway only during season. So it becomes difficult to carry out rescue operations during winter time. The travel on this road is generally safe from late May to early October. 16 Sept 2025: The Manali-Leh highway is open. The Darcha-Shinkula-Padum (Zanskar) - Leh road is also open.
