The high altitude Hanle, a rain shadow area with almost no rains year-round, has huge telescopes (space observatories) which are tele operated from Bangalore. However, tourists can visit them in the day time to know their functioning. The area has a clear sky which is favourable for star gazing.
The tourists will experience the adventurous drive through Khardungla pass and Pangong to Hanle and then to Tso Moriri. Khardungla is one of the highest mountain passes in the world.
If allowed by police, administration and Army, visit to Umling la pass can also be included in the package at extra cost.
A private taxi will pick you up from Leh Airport on the first day and drop you off at Leh Airport on the last day. The taxi will be available for all the sightseeing that you finalize in your itinerary.

Day 01: Arrival in Leh
Meal: breakfast
After arrival at Leh Airport, you would be transferred to hotel for check-in. Today you are free for leisure & acclimatization. This way you can explore the Leh town and also become familiar with the high altitude climate. Overnight at hotel in Leh.
Day 02: Leh – Lamayuru- Uleytokpo/Tingmosgang
Meal: breakfast and dinner
After breakfast, drive down the Indus valley on a tour of the Lamayuru circuit, famous for the dramatically located ancient Lamayuru monastery and the adjoining ‘Moonland’ features. After sightseeing and lunch here, retrace the Leh route till Uleytokpo (60 kms.) and check-in at a fixed camp / resort for overnight stay.
Day 03: Uleytokpo/Tingmosgang – Alchi-Sangam-Magnetic Hills – Leh
Meal: breakfast and dinner
Today after breakfast, drive towards Leh, enroute visiting the 11th century AlchiChoskor, oldest surviving monastic heritage of Ladakh- a UNESCO listed heritage site. Thereafter, visit Sangam (confluence of Indus & Zanskar Rivers), Magnetic Hill Point, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Kali Mata (Temple of Guardians in Spituk monastery) & Hall of Fame, Leh Palace and Shanti Stupa. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel in Leh.
Day 04: Leh – Khardungla Top – Nubra Valley
Meal: breakfast and dinner
Today after an early breakfast you would be driven to Nubra Valley. Enroute visit Khardung-la-pass, the highest motorable road in the world at 18,380ft. Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldorma or the valley of flowers. It is situated to the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. Arrive at Hunder& check in at Hotel/Camps. Later visit Diskit Village & enjoy the Camel ride on sand dunes. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel/Camp.
Day 05: Hunder-Turtuk – Hunder
Meal: breakfast and dinner
Today after breakfast, you will be driven to Turtuk. The name Turtuk is an Turkish word which was exposed by two Turkish namely “Chuli and Yangdrung” who wandered and came to this place and settled here. Today their generations ably back here as so-called race of chulipa and yangdrungpa in turtuk.Turtuk Ladakh, being the mainstream of balti culture of baltistan lies on the historic trade routes between skardu, Yarkand “East Turkistan aka xijian”, leh and Srinagar are restored the line of control had bisected the Himalayan silk route. After visiting Turtuk, we shall come back to Hunder for night stay.
Day 06: Siachen Base Camp
Meal: breakfast and dinner
Today after breakfast, leave for base camp of Siachen glacier. The deadly Siachen glacier, which is at a distance of few hundred meters from the base, is reachable only after trekking. The main Siachen glacier (mid and upper reaches) are reachable only after difficult climbing in multiple days. This is the highest and most difficult battleground in the world. Visit OP Baba temple in the base along with war memorial. Later return back to Sumur via Panamik hot water springs.
Day 07: Hunder –Shyok – Pangong
Meal: breakfast and dinner
Today early morning we shall go to Pangong Lake, east to the Leh via Shyok. You will drive through Durbuk and Tangtse villages in the Changthang region of Ladakh. This is perhaps one of the most amazing lakes in Asia which changes its color 4 – 5 times a day. At evening enjoy the breathtaking view of Pangong Lake. Overnight at the Camp at Pangong Lake.
Day 08: Pangong Lake – Hanle
Meal: breakfast and dinner
Today after breakfast, check out from the Camp & drive to Hanle via Man, Merak, Tsaga-la, Chushul and Rezang-la. Hanle, close to China border, is famous for India’s highest Astronomical Observatory which is fully automated and operated from Bangalore. Tourists can visit the observatory where local engineers, if available, brief you about its functioning. The road to Hanle passes through beautiful plain plateau. Hanle and surrounding villages are mostly situated at high altitude rain-shadow plains with almost no rains. The 17th century Hanle monastery is another attraction.
Day 09: Hanle – Tso Moriri
Meal: breakfast and dinner
Today we shall move to beautiful Tso Moriri Lake via Nyoma and Mahe bridge. Situated at an altitude of 4,522 meters, the lake is 19km long, 3km wide and has maximum depth of 105m. The lake is a Ramsar wetland, a home to dozens of species of migratory words. Visit Korzok monastery on top of village and have walk along the bank of the lake. The lake gets freeze in the winter months. The residents walk over the frozen lake along with their cattle in winters. Walk along the lakeside in the evening time. Don’t miss the mesmerizing view of sunset and sunrise. Tso Moriri is a perfect place for stargazing. Overnight in Swiss camps/guest house at Korzok village.
Day 10: Tso Moriri- Leh
Meal: breakfast and dinner
Today after breakfast check out of the Camp/Guesthouse and proceed towards Leh enroute Mahe Bridge and Chumathang hot water springs. If time permits, you may visit Hemis, Thiksey Monastery and Shey while coming to Leh. Overnight at the Hotel.
Day 11: Airport Drop
Meal: breakfast
After breakfast, you would be driven to Leh airport to catch your flight bach home according to your convenience. Your memorable tour to land of Buddha concludes here.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR TOURISTS VISITING LADAKH
Ladakh is a very safe, tourist-friendly and cheering place, but still, you need to take care of some preparations which can make your tour even better and memorable:
– Only post-paid mobile phones work in Leh-Ladakh, preferably BSNL, Airtel and Jio. As phones may not work in many places, keep your family members informed well in advance not to worry if they fail to contact you.
– You would hardly find any cellular network in most of the areas in Leh. BSNL works better here, however, you would find Airtel and Jio signals also at some places (Leh, Hunder and Diskit).
– Don’t expect high-speed internet in Ladakh.
– Keep ready a pair of woollen (not heavy) with you as temperature may dip as low as 5 degrees any time even during summer months.
– Carry good Sun Screen lotion, sunglasses (goggles), cap with you to avoid sunburn as sun rays are direct and can burn your skin.
– Don’t forget to carry photo id with you. Driving License, Passport, Voter Cards, and Aadhaar are valid photo IDs.
– While travelling on the mountains, keep drinking water and eating healthy food and fruits to avoid high altitude sickness and dizziness due to curvy roads, low air pressure and dry air.
– Carry headache, stomachache, anti-vomiting tablets with you.
– You may consume diamox at least 7-8 hours before arrival at Leh (preferably before falling asleep) and may also take before boarding plane to Leh. The medicine is optional. Having rest and drinking enough water for some hours after reaching Leh is advised.
– Leh has some ATM machines where you can withdraw cash. These machines witness long queues of customers during peak season and run out of cash many times. Non-connectivity is another issue. So carrying enough cash is advisable.
– Please respect the Buddhist and Muslim culture of Ladakh. People of all communities here believe in brotherhood and harmony and respects the tourists. The residents expect the same from the tourists.

Hello friends. If you are visiting Ladakh, I will suggest to take this tour to cover most of the places. Ladakh is little expensive than most of the tourists places of India due to its remoteness. But it has a large number of beautiful places to explore. Once you reach here, you will want to see more of it. I will suggest you to spend at least 9-10 days here. People generally visit only Pangong and Nubra valley. You should also visit tsomori, hanle and deeper parts of sham valley, siachen and turtuk etc. Thanks to the team discover leh ladakh for arranging this trip for me and my wife. Highly recommended.
I have a lot of things to describe my tour experience but it will take many pages. Simply, our ladakh trip was out of the world, smooth, mesmerising, amazing, fantastic, well planned, well executed and what else we need. The only problem was with limited service and average type stay at tsomoriri. Later we knew that there is no good stay option available there. We had to spend a night in cold. It has been a fantastic trip to ladakh where we got opportunity to explore most of the places with ease and relaxed manner.
