The vehicular movement on Manali-Leh highway between Darcha and Sarchu stretch will be allowed only between 8 AM and 1 PM daily. Same rule will be applicable for traffic movement on Darcha-Shinkula road on Manali-Darcha-Padum (Zanskar Valley). Both the roads will be blocked completely after snowfall (or if police find road unsafe) in the next few days. The Manali-Leh road is already officially closed and not suitable for travel for tourists. Its completely unsafe to travel on this road due to slippery road conditions and absence of rescue services. Sudden snowfall can also cause trouble for travellers. Similarly, Manali-Spiti road will be completely blocked for all kinds of vehicles from November 23 onwards due to unsafe road conditions at Kunzum pass. All these roads will be blocked completely immediately after heavy snowfall anytime and will reopen in summer season next year. 03 July 2024: The Manali-Leh road was blocked completely at Sarchu after a bailey bridge was damaged today. The traffic remained suspended for the whole day with long queues of vehicles waiting for its opening on the both sides of the river. Update: The vehicular traffic on the road was thrown open at 4pm. 06 June 2024: The Manali-Leh highway has opened to all kinds of vehicles (cars, jeep, bikes, trucks etc.) from both sides in a fixed time frame. There is no day wise restriction, but traffic from Manali towards Leh will be allowed from Darcha check post from 7am to 11am while traffic from Leh towards Manali will be allowed from Sarchu check
