BRO officials said although road is connected now, there are many stretches with deep snow where road is still narrow where only one directional traffic can be allowed with some struggles for some days. They have made it clear that opening road doesn't mean that it's open for all vehicles immediately as traffic is managed by civil administration, not by BRO. So please note that this highway is still closed for general movement and will be opened only after police and civil administration chalk out a traffic plan. 29 April 2025: According to various news sources, Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has moved extra machinery towards Baralacha and Sarchu to reopen the Manali-Sarchu-Leh highway as soon as possible. The snow from the road is expected to be cleared within a week and road can be thrown open for military and essential supplies. General vehicular movement is expected to be allowed after May 10.
