SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR TOURISTS VISITING LADAKH
Ladakh is a very safe, tourist-friendly and cheering place, but still, you need to take care of some preparations which can make your tour even better and memorable:
– Only post-paid mobile phones work in Leh-Ladakh, preferably BSNL, Airtel and Jio. As phones may not work in many places, keep your family members informed well in advance not to worry if they fail to contact you.
– You would hardly find any cellular network in most of the areas in Leh. BSNL works better here, however, you would find Airtel and Jio signals also at some places (Leh, Hunder and Diskit).
– Don’t expect high-speed internet in Ladakh.
– Keep ready a pair of woollen (not heavy) with you as temperature may dip as low as 5 degrees any time even during summer months.
– Carry good Sun Screen lotion, sunglasses (goggles), cap with you to avoid sunburn as sun rays are direct and can burn your skin.
– Don’t forget to carry photo id with you. Driving License, Passport, Voter Cards, and Aadhaar are valid photo IDs.
– While travelling on the mountains, keep drinking water and eating healthy food and fruits to avoid high altitude sickness and dizziness due to curvy roads, low air pressure and dry air.
– Carry headache, stomachache, anti-vomiting tablets with you.
– You may consume diamox at least 7-8 hours before arrival at Leh (preferably before falling asleep) and may also take before boarding plane to Leh. The medicine is optional. Having rest and drinking enough water for some hours after reaching Leh is advised.
– Leh has some ATM machines where you can withdraw cash. These machines witness long queues of customers during peak season and run out of cash many times. Non-connectivity is another issue. So carrying enough cash is advisable.
– Please respect the Buddhist and Muslim culture of Ladakh. People of all communities here believe in brotherhood and harmony and respects the tourists. The residents expect the same from the tourists.
Tour Reviews
We just finished our complete leh ladakh tour package with discover leh ladakh I’m like wanting to stay here more. This is our last day here. I want to miss our morning flight. As my sister said “Hum ko ghoomne ke liye paise chahiye aur paiso ke liye kaam karna padega”. So we have to return back home. I think I’ll not be out of all this at least for a few months. Ladakh is extremely beautiful. You will definitely fall in love with the mountains, lakes, valleys, monasteries, skies, stars, rivers and the people. Leh, pangong, tsomoriri, hanle, hunder, nubra, diskit, turtuk, siachen, sindhu river, lamayuru, changla, khardungla all places are beautiful. We are returning back home with a promise to come back soon.
Hey! I wanted to visit Umling la pass in leh ladakh for the last 3-4 years ever since its news flashed in the media. After Covid-19 pandemic, I was trying to plan my trip to Ladakh especially for umling la as I have visited leh ladakh three times before. As most of the travel agencied did not give any guarantee to take me there, Discover Leh Ladakh guys said they will take money only if they show me umlingla pass. I was pretty sure that I am in right hands and they did justice to their promise. The road to Umlingla pass was mostly blacktopped while work was under progress as multiple locations. I’ll thank the entire team, especially driver Nazir, for helping me. Good wishes!

Hanle and Umling la pass in a short trip to Ladakh — this is the package. View from near umlingla pass is amazing. we were looking for umlingla pass tour package but we were told that we cannot go their directly due to high altitude and we need to acclimatise properly to avoid serious medical issues. We visited nubra and pangong and hanle and then visited umling la pass. All went smooth and without problem. We will recommend your travel company to our relatives, colleagues and friends. Good luck.
Hi, writing this review from Leh as this is our last day in Ladakh today. We just returned back from Hanle and Umlingla and tomorrow is our flight back home. All five of us want to spend some more time here as we did not see many places like Turtuk, Siachen base camp, tsomoriri lake, tsokar lake, puga valley and many more. This is wonderland. The local people, especially in the villages, are so innocent and helpful. The trip was well managed by team discover leh ladakh. The best part is we did not give even a single rupee to confirm the booking. Even now when I am writing this review, we have not paid anything so far. They had asked us to visit their office in the evening time. As we are all down with exhausting journey from Hanle, they are sending somebody to collect the money. Our UPI and online payments are not working. I was shocked when the owner suresh bhai said don’t worry about payment and pay after reaching back home. Amazing people. However, we have collected cash and withdrew some from ATM and paying them in the night time. Come and experience the magic of Ladakh.
