SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR TOURISTS VISITING LADAKH
Ladakh is a very safe, tourist-friendly and cheering place, but still, you need to take care of some preparations which can make your tour even better and memorable:
– Only post-paid mobile phones work in Zanskar valley of Ladakh, preferably BSNL and Jio. As phones may not work in many places, keep your family members informed well in advance not to worry if they fail to contact you.
– You would hardly find any cellular network in most of the areas in Zanskar valley. Jio works better here, however, you would find BSNL signals at Padum.
– Don’t expect high-speed internet in Ladakh.
– Keep ready a pair of woollen (not heavy) with you as temperature may dip as low as 5 degrees any time even during summer months.
– Carry good Sun Screen lotion, sunglasses (goggles), cap with you to avoid sunburn as sun rays are direct and can burn your skin.
– Don’t forget to carry photo id with you. Driving License, Passport, Voter Cards, and Aadhaar are valid photo IDs.
– While travelling on the mountains, keep drinking water and eating healthy food and fruits to avoid high altitude sickness and dizziness due to curvy roads, low air pressure and dry air.
– Carry headache, stomachache, anti-vomiting tablets with you.
– You may consume diamox at least 36 hours before arrival at Zanskar (preferably before falling asleep). The medicine is optional. Having rest and drinking enough water for some hours after reaching Leh is advised.
– Carry enough cash for shopping, meals and to pay your bills.
– Please respect the Buddhist and Muslim culture of Ladakh. People of all communities here believe in brotherhood and harmony and respects the tourists. The residents expect the same from the tourists.
Tour Reviews
Thank you for arranging a beautiful trip to zanskar valley and ladakh for my family. We are fully satisfied.
Zanskar valley in a different part of ladakh is less explored destination where you will not find huge crowd like other popular tourist destination. I found Zanskar more beautiful with stunning landscapes. We did some research and decided to visit zanskar valley before visiting leh and kargil areas of ladakh. My decision turned out to be superb and I and my friends were lucky to have visited zanskar and ladakh. All credit goes to discover leh ladakh team. Their service is highly recommended.
What a beautiful trip it was. I am still travelling in Ladakh in my mind (I reached home yesterday). I think people who plan of abroad should visit Ladakh first. Most of them will visit Ladakh again and again. And I found Zanskar valley more beautiful. We did this Zanskar tour package from leh but we made some changes in it. We wanted to visit phugtal monastery and gonbo rangjon also. So, instead of returning back to Leh, we went to purney village to visit phugtal and then visited gonbo rangjon and shinkula pass on way to manali. One plus point was we reached early and got opportunity to visit beautiful lahaul valley, jispa, keylong, sissu and atal tunnel. From driver to taxi to hotels to meal and other arrangements, everything was perfect. I will definitely return back to ladakh and my travel agent will be none other than discover leh ladakh. Cheers!
Best trip I have ever experienced in a hill station in India. The destinations are mesmerising but road itself is amazing. It looks like the road to heaven will be exactly like this. The scenery and the landscapes along the highway are amazing. And the tourist destination and some of the photography locations like gombo rangjon, phugtal monastery, sani lake, drang drung, karsha, stongdey, mune, dangerous road along zanskar river and then places like pangong, khardungla, nubra, leh palace, shanti stupa, thiksey, hunder, turtuk, diskit are out of the world. the leh ladakh trip with zanskar is must do trip in a lifetime. Thanks to suresh and sarfaraz for making things easy for us. The trip was smooth and we had no problem at any place. They are local people and they know the place better than anybody else.
