Manali – Leh Road Status (2024): CLOSED Srinagar – Leh Road Status (2024): OPEN Darcha-Padum (Zanskar) Road Status (2024): PARTIALLY OPEN . Note: Its extremely dangerous to drive/travel on the Leh-Manali highway due to deposit of ice on road surface. The vehicles are skidding on the road, and sudden snowfall can trap vehicles for days or months. The road will reopen for normal and safe travel in May 2025 (next year). Tourists can travel to Leh by flight in winter season as well. 06 December 2024: Manali-Leh road is closed for tourists. Tourists are allowed to travel from Manali till Zingzingbar only (before Baralacha pass) if they have 4X4 (four wheel drive) vehicles. Only local people can travel on this highway after ensuring safe driving conditions. Vehicles from Darcha check post will be allowed only from 9 AM to 1 PM. Similarly, tourists can travel to Shinkula pass from 9 AM to 1 PM only with 4X4 vehicles. 19 November 2024: Due to icing of the road under extreme cold conditions, strict traffic regulations are in place from today onwards. The vehicular movement on Manali-Leh highway between Darcha and Sarchu stretch will be allowed only between 8 AM and 1 PM daily. Same rule will be applicable for traffic movement on Darcha-Shinkula road on Manali-Darcha-Padum (Zanskar Valley). Both the roads will be blocked completely after snowfall (or if police find road unsafe) in the next few days. The Manali-Leh road is already officially closed and not suitable for travel for tourists. Its completely unsafe to travel on this road due to slippery road conditions and absence of rescue services. Sudden snowfall can also cause trouble for travellers. Similarly, Manali-Spiti road will be completely blocked for all kinds of vehicles from November 23 onwards due to unsafe road conditions at Kunzum
