LEH: The Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh today said that the contribution of late Kushok Bakula is exemplary which should be propagated especially among the younger generation and he is the architect of the, modern Ladakh

The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at the centenary birth celebration function of Padma Bushan 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche at Leh today.

Minister for Cooperatives Chering Dorjay, Chief Executive Councilror LAHDC Dr. Sonam Dawa, MLA Leh Rigzin Jora, Senior officers and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the late Rinpoche was responsible for the social transformation of the Ladakhi society. He said that he was the main architect for the modernization of the Ladakh region and people still remember him through the country for his contribution towards the development of this part of the nation.

“We should all be thankful to the late leader Kushok Bakula for his visionary and modern outlook which was responsible for bringing the transformation of this hilly region of the State,” Dr. Singh said and maintained that the younger generation should follow the teachings and path shown by the legendary spiritual leader.

While referring to various developmental initiatives and schemes undertaken in Ladakh region, the Deputy Chief Minister said that special focus has been given to develop the historic Leh and Kargil towns and they have already been undertaken under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) under which every facet of urban development would be addressed. “An amount of Rs 15.20 crore has been earmarked under urban sector for Leh, whereas Rs 12.26 crore are for Kargil region,” he added.

Dr. Singh while directing the officers to ensure that the region gets requisite supply of electric power said that it is essential for the tourist season as well as for the local populace living there. He said that the State has already undertaken a comprehensive programme for upgrading and augmenting the electric infra, transmitting facilities so that the more electric power can be transmitted to different un-electrified areas of the region.

Referring to the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) the Dy CM said that under this scheme every un-electrified habitation of the State would be covered by 2019 and an amount of Rs 48.47 crore has been earmarked for Leh and an amount of Rs 42.44 crore for Kargil region. He said that in order to increase the transmission and receiving capacity of the region 220KV transmission line is in offing. He said Leh to Nubra transmission line is being constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 123.19 crore whereas Kargil Zanskar transmission line is coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 217.91 crore.

Dr. Singh also conveyed a special message from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the people of the Ladakh region on centenary birth celebration of the late spiritual leader Kushok Bakula.

Ladakh Affairs Minister Chering Dorje, CEC Chairman Dr.Sonam Dawa, MP Thupstan Chhewang, CPL Leader MLA Nawang Rigzin Jora, LBA President Tsewang Thinles, Organizing Committee Chairman Geshe Konchok Wangdus and venerable Khambo Lama Dambajav also spoke on the occasion.

The centenary birth celebration of H.H. The 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy at High School Hundar, Middle School Tertse and Middle School Taksha Nubra today. Thousands of people, teachers and students, Ama Tsogspas and other societies participated in the function.

As a part of the centenary birth celebration of H.H. the 19th Bakula Rinpoche, an archery competition famously known as Argon-nay Dartses was inaugurated today afternoon by the Minister for Ladakh Affair and Cooperative J&K State Chhering Dorjey at Pologround. Prominent among who present on the occasion were CEC, Leh Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo, MP Ladakh Thupstan Chhewang, MLA Leh Nawang Rigzin Jora, Executive Councilors and DC Leh Prasanna Ramaswamy G.

Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport of Leh was named after the 19th Kushok Bakula Rimpoche. The airport is just in front of the Bakula’s monastery – Spituk Monastery situated in the end of the Leh town.
